The moment you hit the water, you create wave drag. Wave drag is the resistance caused by the waves or turbulence you create. The bigger your wave drag, the greater your energy loss, regardless of how sophisticated your stroke or style of swimming. We are pioneering the dynamics of drag as well as the theory on how to harness and minimize turbulences by using Tripwire Technology (latitudinal banding) on three, key touch points to re-direct the laminar boundary layer or flow around your body. Using the concept of banding, Aqua Shift literally "shifts" the laminar flow.

We continue to study numerous hydrodynamic theories, but the most important is the Onera experiment. The catalyst and foundation of our challenge.

Our goal was to extract and apply this validated science into a new environment - competitive swimming. Also, while conventional suits address flow from a longitudinal approach, we turned it on its ear and attacked flow perpendicularly. With the latitudinal banding in place, Aqua Shift slightly increased one component of drag in order to greatly reduce the other two components. Proven science provided us with a structure for success in redefining competitive swimwear.

Keeping turbulence flow attached makes expended energy much more efficient. Simply put, overall drag is greatly reduced by 10%*, which pales in comparison when you consider the reduction Aqua Shift has on overall Wave Drag (an unheard of 53%*) and Pressure Drag (more than 18%*), making Aqua Shift quite the untouchable.
