TYR Heritage

TYR Sport Inc. is the second largest performance swimwear company in North America, with a brand presence in more than 80 countries, and has provided performance swimsuits to elite athletes since 1985. Co-founded by an Olympic medalist and USA Swimming Co-Captain, TYR has been involved in full body technical suit research and development for the past three Olympiads.

Beginning at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in 1999, full body suit tests concluded drag reduction was achieved by 6% at the International Center for Aquatic Research.

In 2003, a study by the USA Swimming Sports Science Committee proved that TYRís Aquapel technology provided the most streamline position for an athlete and reduced form drag the best against Speedo, Nike, Adidas and Arena.

TYR was the first company to de-compose the components of overall total drag in racing suits in 2004. Significant improvements in research technique with the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, found an 18% reduction in pressure drag, 53% in wave drag and a 10% overall reduction in drag. Results were published in the Journal of Medicine, Science, Sports & Exercise.

Independent third party water repellency testing on Tracer Light, in 2007, received a perfect rating of 100: No sticking or wetting of upper surface.
