Lacourt Shares Historic Gold in Shanghai; Kukors Claims Bronze

Huntington Beach, CA – July 26, 2011 – TYR athlete Camille Lacourt tied for first place in the men’s 100m backstroke at the 14th annual FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. Lacourt’s victory marks the first world title for any Frenchmen and also marks the first time in history that two swimmers from the same country have tied for a World Gold Medal. Outfitted in TYR’s Tracer B-Series Jammer, Lacourt’s blistering time of 52.75 neared his 2010 European Record of 52.11. TYR athlete Nick Thoman was also a part of this exciting final, finishing .03 seconds out of the medal hunt in 4th with a time of 53.01.

TYR athlete Ariana Kukors also enjoyed success on day two of the FINA World Championships. With a time of 2:09:12, Kukors swam to a Bronze Medal finish in the 200m Individual Medley.
