Aurore Mongel Wins European Championship Title

French swimmer Aurore Mongel captures Gold in the 200m Butterfly. Her incredible swim clocked in at 2:06.50, was just one second off the World Record pace. Aurore continues to speed up her Personal Best Times, from the 2008 French National Championship (2:08:13), to the 2008 European Championship Prelims (2:07.73) to the 2008 European Championship Finals (2:06.59). Aurore also grabbed a Bronze finish in the 100m Butterfly, touching the wall at 58.50.

In the 200m Freestyle, Romanian Olympian Camelia Potec won Silver in 1:57.42. She stopped the clock at 4:05.69 in the 400m Freestyle for a Bronze medal finish.

Olympic Gold Medalist Julia Pakhalina of the Russian Diving Federation performed gracefully as she was crowned the 2008 European Championship 3m Diving Champion. She also won the 3m Synchronized Diving with her teammate, Anastasia Pozdnyakova. The Russian Diving Federation also swept the Gold in the Men’s 3m Synchronized Diving title. The men’s team scored an incredible score of 9 or above more than 20 times through the 3m Finals.

Eric Shanteau Garners Major Top Podium Win

Eric Shanteau captured first place in the 200m Breaststroke at the All-American Championships in Austin, Texas. Eric established the World’s Fastest Time in the 200m Breaststroke for 2008 (2:10.59) and established a new, lifetime personal best in doing so.

Matt Grevers dashed out at World Record pace in the 100m Freestyle. Matt swam a fast race as he clocked in at 48.53 for Silver, just .03 behind the leader. Matt set his lifetime personal best time in Missouri, but he improved with a new one in the 100m Freestyle.

David Cromwell was right at home in his training pool at the University of Texas. He had two exceptional swims in the 100m Backstroke and 200m Backstroke. David claimed a Silver in both events. In his 100m Backstroke race, he clocked in at 53.81, while his 200m Backstroke stopped the watch at 1:58.75.

Mary DeScenza earned a Silver in both the 200m Butterfly (2:09.34) and 200m Backstroke (2:11.33). Proving she’s an extremely versatile swimmer, Mary took Bronze in the 100m Backstroke (1:01.72) and a top five finish in the 200m Freestyle (2:02.04).

Robert Margalis and Eric Shanteau dominated the 400m IM with a powerful 1-2 finish. Robert’s Gold medal win stopped the clock at 4:17.27, while Eric touched the wall just behind his TYR teammate, 4:17.39. In the 1500m Freestyle, Robert grabbed a Silver medal (15:23.22) in the distance event.

In the Men’s 200m Freestyle, Matt Grevers captured a Bronze in the 200m Freestyle in 1:48.41. Adam Ritter finished fourth in 1:48.41. Earning a Bronze in the 200m Butterfly, Pat Cary raced to a 2:00.25 finish.

Amanda Weir swam the 100m Freestyle fast for a Silver finish in a time of 55.98. She won another Gold in the 400m Freestyle Relay with her Atlanta teammates.

We are proud to welcome Elizabeth Tinnon to our TYR team. She is a leading breaststroke specialist who is a 6-Time All-American and 2007 Pan American Games Bronze medalist. At this event, Elizabeth earned two Silver medals in both the 100m Breaststroke (1:08.78) and 200m Breaststroke (2:29.90). She set her lifetime personal best time in the 100m Breaststroke.

Swimmers To Race at All-American Invitational

TYR swimmers are getting fired up for this weekend’s 2008 All-American Long Course Championship in Austin, Texas. Our team will race in the most advanced forms of our Tracer™ swim technology.

The TYR competitor roster includes 2-Time Olympic medalist Amanda Weir, U.S. National Kiphuth High Point Award Winner Mary DeScenza, Southern California Grand Prix High Point Award Winner Matt Grevers, U.S. National Champion Eric Shanteau and Pan American Games Gold Medalist Robert Margalis.

Together, our accomplishments will continue to grow.

DeScenza Captures Victory at All-American Invitational

On the first day of competition at the All-American Invitational, Mary DeScenza won the 100m Butterfly. She touched the wall at 59.10. Mary took a Bronze in a very close race in the 200m IM. She finished in 2:15.06, just .03 behind the winner.

Matt Grevers swam the World’s 3rd Fastest Time in the 100m Butterfly (52.10) for 2008 and captured a Silver medal in the event. He set the World’s 3rd Fastest Time in the 50m Freestyle (22.01) for 2008, making it his Lifetime Personal Best Time. Matt earned a Silver medal in the sprint freestyle event.

Taking the second podium spot in the 50m Freestyle, Amanda Weir stopped the clock at 25.73. She garnered two Gold medals in the relay events.

In the 200m IM, Eric Shanteau and Adam Ritter finished back to back with a Silver – Bronze finish, respectively. Eric swam with speed in his home pool to finish in 1:59.27. Adam Ritter raced to the wall in 2:02.65. Adam, a World University Games Gold Medalist joins our TYR team after a successful swimming career at the University of Arizona.
