Lavelle Tops Lifetime Fitness Tri Series with Latest Win

Becky Lavelle claims the crown of the 2008 Accenture Chicago Triathlon to place her as the leader of the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon Series. Jumping off the plane from Beijing as the alternate for the U.S. Olympic team, Becky kept her momentum going as she raced the international distance of 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run.

Becky was first out of the water, leading the pack as she jumped on her bike. After an impressive performance on the bike, she was minutes ahead of the next competitor. Finishing off with a solid run, Becky broke the finish line tape in a time of 2:00:19 as she secured victory.

“I tried to build as much of a lead as I could before the run. I knew I had to keep pushing on the run to secure a win so that’s what I did and managed to win in 2:00.19, my fastest time on the course in the 10 plus times I’ve raced there,” expresses Becky.

She continues, “It was such a fun race to win again and it puts me in the lead for the Lifetime Fitness Series.”

Becky will race the Los Angeles Triathlon on September 7, the next stop of the Series. TYR is an official sponsor of the Chicago Triathlon and the complete Lifetime Fitness Triathlon Series. The Chicago Triathlon drew 8,700 registered athletes, this year’s largest U.S. triathlon.
