Swimming World Magazine recognizes synchronized swimmers Anastasia Davydova and Anastasia Ermakova as the 2008 Synchronized Swimmers of the Year.
Davydova and Ermakova won the Olympic Gold medal in the duet event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The team scored 99.500, receiving perfect 10s from the judges in technical merit.
Earning the most elite athletic achievements, Davydova and Ermakova have won 4 Olympic Gold medals and 7 World Championship titles in both duet and team performances.

Having challenged adversity head-on at the height of his athletic career, Eric Shanteau was honored Monday night with USA Swimming’s Golden Goggle Perseverance Award. Shanteau earned his berth on the 2008 Olympic Team with a second place finish in the 200m breaststroke at the Olympic Trials. That celebration was tempered, however, when Shanteau revealed he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer just one week earlier.

At the FINA World Cup Berlin, Peter Marshall broke his most recent 100m Backstroke (SCM) World Record. On November 15th, he recorded a time of 49.63. Days prior at the FINA World Cup Sweden, Marshall established the 100m Backstroke World Record of 49.94 on November 11th.
In Tracer Rise swimsuit technology, Marshall collected three World Records in four days. Even more, he accumulated four Gold, three Silver and two Bronze medals during FINA World Cup circuit.
Marshall progressively lowers the World Record pace in the 100m Backstroke (SCM). At the 2008 FINA World Cup, he improved the World Record by setting times of 49.94 and 49.63. His times in the 100m Backstroke at the FINA World Cup are a 1.4% improvement.
Marshall currently wears Tracer Rise technology for the FINA World Cup Series.

TYR Athletes in Top Positions on USA Swimming Series’ Leaderboard
Perfection. American Record Holder Mary DeScenza swam a perfect six for six gold medals at USA Swimming’s first Grand Prix event of the season, held in Minneapolis.
DeScenza’s performances were won in the 200y Backstroke (1:56.83), 200y Butterfly (1:57.06), 100y Butterfly (53.52), 100y Backstroke (53.73), 500y Freestyle (4:43.20) and 200y Freestyle (1:46.69). These accomplishments have earned her a series-leading 30 points with five stops remaining.
William Copeland sits in second place on the leaderboard after achieving three Gold Medals in highly competitive event fields that included two-time Olympian Ryan Lochte in the 50y Freestyle.
Copeland took home Gold in the 200y Freestyle (1:36.81), 50y Freestyle (19.31) and 100y Freestyle (42.42). He swam a successful collegiate career as an All-American swimmer at Cal Berkeley.
DeScenza and Copeland are currently competing in Tracer Rise technology during the Grand Prix Series. The next stop will take place in Long Beach, CA, on January 16th.

Peter Marshall continues his record-breaking success as he sets a new World Record in the 50m Backstroke. He defined this fast paced time standard in the 50m Backstroke just one day after breaking the World Record in the 100m Backstroke. Peter clocked in history’s fastest time of 23.05, improving upon the previous record of 23.24. Wearing Tracer Rise, Peter also set an American Record.
Peter garnered some of the most prestigious achievements in the sport of swimming. He earned titles such as World Champion, 3-Time World Record Holder, 4-Time American Record Holder, U.S. National Champion, 3-Time NCAA Champion and U.S. Open Record Holder.
