National Titles and Lifetime Personal Bests Highlight Day Two in Atlanta

With the conclusion of the second day of races, TYR athletes collected 16 medals: 5 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze.

The competition began with a new meet record by King Aquatics in the Women’s 4×50 medley relay with a time of 1:39.32.

Mary DeScenza collected another national title by winning the 100y butterfly in 51.78. She continued her winning streak with an additional title in the 100y backstroke noting a lifetime personal best time of 52:49. DeScenza rounded out the day with a silver in the 200y freestyle with a time of 1:43:93, a lifetime personal performance. In the next lane, Amanda Weir clocked in her lifetime fastest of 1:44.79 in the 200y freestyle.

Matt Grevers captured a silver medal in the 100y butterfly. His time marked his lifetime personal best of 45.47. In this race, 50% of the field wore TYR Tracer technology.

Other notable finishes included Mike Alexandrov winning the 100y breaststroke with Eric Shanteau earning a bronze medal in the race. 50% of the competitors wore Tracer in the women’s 100y breaststroke including the top podium finishers. Elizabeth Tinnon turned in a bronze finish in the event in 1:00.35.

To conclude the evening’s success, Grevers propelled himself into Silver medal  finish in the men’s 100y backstroke in a close battle determined by .11 second. Grevers broke his lifetime personal best in the event in 45.48.
