Purdue University Eclipses NCAA Diving Record in College Station

The 2009 NCAA Championships ended on a high note as Purdue University broke the national record in the men’s platform diving finals. The diving team claimed victory in the six-dive tower event with a score of 530.45 and bettered the previous NCAA mark set last year by over 50 points. Overall Purdue University established national records in both the three-meter and platform diving competitions.

The collegiate swimming and diving season concluded this evening at the Student Rec Center Natatorium on the Texas A&M campus.

National Diving Record Set on Day Two Championships

On March 27th, Purdue University broke the NCAA Record in the men’s three-meter springboard event and earned its second ever diving national title in the program’s history. The Boilermakers established a new standard of 493.10 to improve the previous record by an impressive 25 points.

Men’s National Championships Underway in College Station

The 2008 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships began today at the Student Rec Center Natatorium at Texas A&M. TYR elite teams secured silver and bronze in men’s one-meter diving finals on the first day of competition. Purdue University placed second in the six dive meet with a score of 420.80. Texas A&M University followed in a close third by a tenth of a point to earn 420.70 in the springboard event.

Women’s National Championships Conclude with Record Performances

The 2009 NCAA Swimming Championships ended Saturday with N.C. State women’s diving winning its first ever national title in the program’s history. The team achieved their feat with a total score of 339.05 in the six-dive platform event.

The third-fastest time in history was recorded in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:51.18. In the 100-yard freestyle, an impressive result of 47.48 was achieved and ranks among the Top 10 Fastest Times in the sprint event. Both athletes wore the latest Tracer Titan technology.

The men’s championship takes place on March 26-28 at Texas A & M in College Station, Texas.

Indiana University Breaks NCAA Diving Meet Record

Indiana University won the women’s three-meter diving national championships Friday in College Station, Texas. They established a new NCAA record with a tally of 437.75 points, improving their score from the preliminaries by 86 points to secure the win.

The Hoosiers also placed third in the springboard diving event with 366.90 points. The Indiana University diving team is led by elite TYR coach Jeff Huber who has served as the 2008 U.S. Beijing Olympic head coach, and has been honored as the NCAA Women’s Diving Coach of the Year and seven-time U.S. National Coach of the Year.

Houston University secured a second place finish in three-meter springboard competition with a score of 386.10 and earned their national title on Thursday in the one-meter diving event.

The NCAA diving championships continues Saturday with the women’s platform diving at the Student Rec Center Natatorium.
