On the final day of the 2009 Pac 10 Championships, a new American Record was established in 100-yard freestyle in 41.43; this bettered the previous sprint mark of 41.62 set back in 2002.
At the Belmont Olympic Plaza pool in Long Beach, the swimmer first threatened the American Record in the 100-yard individual race with a 41.64. Only minutes later, he rewrote history as the leadoff of the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay wearing Tracer Rise.

Mary DeScenza remains the high point series leader with 104 points after final day of the USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix. This evening DeScenza touched third in the 200-meter backstroke to stop the clock at 2:11.96. She finished the meet on a high note by winning the 200-meter butterfly event in 2:09.01.
Action filled the Austin pool as Elizabeth Tinnon picked up speed in the final lap of the 200-meter breaststroke to touch the wall in a first place tie. Her winning time of 2:31.73 secured her second breaststroke title at the Austin meet.

Jo Lawn was the runner-up at the 2009 Bonita Ironman New Zealand. With ideal racing conditions, Lawn led the field of competitors up to the marathon run in Tracer Triathlon technology. She crossed the finish in 9 hours 23 minutes and 8 seconds. Lawn was the reigning Ironman New Zealand champion for the past six years.
“That was an incredible experience, the crowd was amazing again, I just wish I could have finished first, but Gina had a great day today and was too good. We pushed each other, I think, and that’s what makes champions.”

At the 2009 Pac 10 Championships in Long Beach, the NCAA Record fell to 51.41 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Wearing the newly released and NCAA approved Tracer Titan, the previous standard of 51.56 was erased. Noteworthy, the 51.56 was set at the 2007 NCAA Championships by Northwestern’s Mike Alexandrov, also wearing TYR.
The excitement continued with another NCAA Record broken in the 400-yard medley relay in a record setting time of 3:03.30. This is an improvement upon the 3:04.04 standard set in TYR at the 2007 NCAA Championships by Matt Grevers and Alexandrov.

On the second day of the competition in Austin, Elizabeth Tinnon took second place in the 100-meter breaststroke. She recorded a time of 1:09.49 in the long course event.
In the 100-meter backstroke, Mary DeScenza earned silver in 1:01.88 and then later secured bronze in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:00.61. She remains the Grand Prix series leader after day two of racing among a deep field of competitors.
