Divers Claim Victory at USA Diving Nationals in Florida

Purdue University won the men’s 10-meter platform and men’s 10-meter synchronized platform events at the 2009 USA Diving Spring National Championships at the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex.

Indiana University also competed at the home of the International Diving Hall of Fame pool scoring near-perfect 9s on the final dive to take the women’s 1-meter springboard title. Synchronized divers from Indiana University and Purdue University teamed up to place first at the national championships in the women’s 3-meter synchronized springboard scoring 310.80.

National champion Allison Brennan earned silver with her new diving partner in the women’s synchronized 3-meter event, rallying 282.30 points.

Andy Potts Wins St. Anthony’s Triathlon

Andy Potts crossed the finished first today in 1 hour 46 minutes and 33 seconds at the 2009 St. Anthony’s Triathlon in St. Petersburg, Florida. In the choppy Tampa Bay with extreme three-foot waves, Potts completed the 1.5k swim in 18 minutes and 27 seconds, then transitioned into a strong 40k bike ride that clocked in at 54 minutes 27 seconds. He secured his lead in the Olympic-distance race with the fastest run of the day of 31 minutes and 38 seconds, to earn his first title of the season.

TYR Signs Royal Spanish Swimming Federation

New Relationship Strengthens TYR’s Worldwide Support and Commitment to Sport

TYR Sport, Inc. and the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation have announced a four-year partnership that includes swimming, diving, open water swimming and synchronized swimming. Under the new agreement, athletes will wear and use TYR technical swimwear, equipment and accessories in their training and competitions through the 2012 Olympic Games. The relationship will also allow TYR to communicate with the entire member community of the Federation and involve their athletes in valuable product research and development.

Chrissie Wellington Lowers Course Record at Ironman Australia

Chrissie Wellington Remains Undefeated: Six for Six Ironman Wins

Chrissie Wellington defended her Ironman Australia crown this weekend to earn her sixth straight Ironman title. She set a course record as she broke the nine hour barrier in 8 hours, 57 minutes and 10 seconds as she completed the 3.8km swim, 180.2km bike and a 42.2km run. Wellington finished 24 minutes ahead of the women’s field and an impressive 11th place overall in the Greater Port Macquarie course.

“I am so immensely proud of my race today. It is such a vindication of all the hard work and my desire and passion I have for this sport,” said Wellington.
