Wellington Wins Third Consecutive World Championship in Record-Breaking Fashion

The 2009 Ironman World Championships were owned by the reigning champion Chrissie Wellington, who secured her third consecutive title with a new course record of 8:54:03, erasing the previous mark set 17 years ago Saturday, October 10th in Kona, Hawaii.

“I never thought that I would come here and break the record,” said Wellington immediately after finishing the race. “This was definitely the hardest Ironman I have ever done. I had to dig deep. I am so proud of what I achieved today. Thank you so much, and I hope I can continue to be a champion you can always be proud of.”

Flanagan, Potts out of Water 1-2 in Kona

At the start of the 2009 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii this morning on Saturday, October 10th, it was all about TYR-sponsored John Flanagan and Andy Potts in the grueling, rough waters of the 2.4-mile swim. The two swim stand-outs stayed out in front together ahead of the entire pack wearing the Tracer Sayonara, to run up on the beach and entire T1 1-2. They finished nearly three minutes ahead of the third place.

Triathlete Magazine Reviews Tracer Sayonara Swimskin

Triathlete magazine features a two-page editorial review of the Tracer Sayonara Swimskin by senior editor Jay Prasuhn. In the November issue, the editor tested the elite swimskin technology during the 2009 Solana Beach Triathlon in San Diego County.
