On a night dedicated to honoring the high achievements of USA Swimming’s top swimmer and coaches, TYR-sponsored athletes Matt Grevers and Ariana Kukors received top honors. The 2009 Golden Goggle Awards, held Sunday, November 22nd in Beverly Hills, CA, celebrated the success of Team USA over the past year in national and international competition, where both athletes excelled.
Under the heat and sun of Tempe, AZ, TYR-sponsored TJ Tollakson placed second at the 2009 Ironman Arizona race on Sunday, November 22nd, clocking in at 8:20:22.
The first stop on the 2009-10 USA Swimming Grand Prix series was off to a victorious start for TYR’s William Copeland at the Minneapolis Grand Prix in Minneapolis, MN. Beginning on Friday, November 13th and ending Saturday the 15th, the 23-year-old took top honors in the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyle events to prove his strength in all the sprint distances.
At the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, FL on Saturday, November 14th, Canadian Magali Tisseyre blew away the field on the run to capture third in 4:05:27. The time bettered her 2008 championship performance by over 22 minutes, validating the leaps and bounds she has made in the sport over the past year.
