TYR & Chrissie Wellington Extend Sponsorship Deal

Huntington Beach, Calif. – April 30, 2010 – TYR has extended its sponsorship of Chrissie Wellington, one of the greatest Ironman athletes of all time. Chrissie will represent the TYR triathlon and swim collections for the rest of her career and into her retirement. After signing the extension, Chrissie stated the following:

“I have been part of the TYR family since my first World Ironman Championship victory in 2007, and with their support I have won two more World Championship crowns and broken the world Iron distance record.

TYR’s Potts and Stevens Lead Swim at Ironman 70.3 Texas

TYR athletes Andy Potts and Amanda Stevens had the fastest swim splits of the morning at the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Texas race in Galveston, Texas on Sunday, April 25th. Both athletes wore the TYR Sayonara Swimskin as the exited the water leading their fields during the 1.2-mile swim. Potts split 25:24 to finish 1:20 ahead of the next competitor entering into the bike leg. Stevens clocked a 27:48 to give herself a 2:03 lead on the women’s field headed into T1.

Potts finished the race fourth (3:52:01), while Stevens came in second with a time of 4:18:26.

TYR’s Haskins Wins St. Anthony’s Triathlon

TYR athlete Sarah Haskins won big at the 2010 St. Anthony’s Triathlon Sunday, April 25th in St Petersburg, Florida. The Olympian championed over a deep field on the bike and run legs to take the title in a time of 1:58:49. Haskins raced in TYR’s Sayonara Swimskin and Fusion 2.

Haskin’s next race is scheduled for May 9th, at the second stop on the World Championship Series in Seoul, South Korea.

TYR’s Andy Potts First at Ironman 70.3 New Orleans

TYR’s Andy Potts celebrated an early-season victory at the 2010 Ironman 70.3 New Orleans on Sunday, April 18th with a final time of 3:43:44. Potts exited the water in the TYR Sayonara swimskin 1:30 ahead of the pack and also had the fastest back-end speed of the day to clock a half-marathon split of 1:12:40. He finished a comfortable 3:33 ahead of the next competitor.

The next stop of Pott’s 2010 race schedule will be Ironman 70.3 Texas on Sunday, April 25th in Galveston Island, Texas.
