Huntington Beach, CA – November 22, 2010 – It was another record-breaking day for 3x World Champion Chrissie Wellington at Ironman Arizona. Smashing the previous world record of 8:47:26 (set by Sandra Wallenhorst at 2008 Ironman Austria), Wellington’s time of 8:36:13 dominated the field, beating 2nd place women’s finisher, Linsey Corbin (9:05:33), by nearly 30 minutes.

With her new Ironman World Record time of 8:36:13, Chrissie became the first woman to break nine hours in an Ironman in North America. Wellington led off with a 51:56 on the swim, wearing the TYR Category 5 Hurricane Wetsuit. Her bike and run splits were dominant, with times of 4:47:06 and 2:52:56 (a new world record for the marathon split), respectively. Chrissie also holds the record for Ironman distance with a time of 8:19:31, set at Quelle Challenge Roth this summer.

Perhaps the most impressive of Wellington’s feats was achieving the smallest gap between first man and first woman in an Ironman. Chrissie finished 8th overall, roughly 29 minutes behind men’s winner Timo Bracht. In addition, Wellington set a new course record for Ironman Arizona, surpassing the previous record of 9:09:19. She remains undefeated in Ironman distance with a perfect 10-for-10.

Also breaking the top ten on the women’s side was TYR athlete Mackenzie Madison, who finished seventh with a time of 9:24:11. Madison had a standout race with splits of 1:07:02 on the swim, 5:02:00 on the bike, and 3:09:57 on the run.

On the men’s side, TYR athlete and Great Britain native Tom Lowe finished in 3rd place with a time of 8:11:44. Racing his first full Ironman, Lowe ran a remarkable race, with splits of 56:37 on the swim, 4:22:51 on the bike, and 2:48:11 on the run. Lowe’s run split was the fastest of the day for the men. Lowe, who is currently dating Chrissie Wellington, greeted her at the finish line, completing an already amazing day for Chrissie, Tom, and the entire TYR Team.

Wellington raced in a custom red edition of TYR’s new Carbon Collection Race Kit, which is launching to the public in Spring 2011. Lowe and Madison also wore the Carbon Collection Race Kits, wearing gray/black and black/red, respectively. All three athletes swam in the Category 5 Hurricane Wetsuit.

Chrissie has been awarded the prestigious title for her outstanding achievements in the field of Triathlon.

The 33-year-old from Suffolk, U.K. is 8-for-8 in Ironman races and currently holds the Iron distance world record.

“I am so thrilled to have been awarded an MBE,” said Chrissie. “It really is an incredible honor, and I am so proud to represent the sport of triathlon in the U.K. and around the world. Being awarded the MBE has given me an added boost as I train for my next ironman race, Challenge Roth in Germany in July where I hope to lower the world record that I set there last year”

Chrissie recently extended her sponsorship with TYR to represent the company’s triathlon and swim collections for the rest of her career and into retirement. She will also collaborate with the TYR design team to create limited edition race gear, a signature wetsuit, and lifestyle apparel products. The partnership will focus on generating awareness and support around charities Chrissie already supports.

Huntington Beach, Calif. – April 30, 2010 – TYR has extended its sponsorship of Chrissie Wellington, one of the greatest Ironman athletes of all time. Chrissie will represent the TYR triathlon and swim collections for the rest of her career and into her retirement. After signing the extension, Chrissie stated the following:

“I have been part of the TYR family since my first World Ironman Championship victory in 2007, and with their support I have won two more World Championship crowns and broken the world Iron distance record.

With TYR I get the complete package. They have a proven commitment to sporting success; they are at the cutting edge of innovation, leading the way in producing a complete range of high quality, high performance products that cater to all types of athletes. Whether it is the new and super speedy Hurricane wetsuit, my tankini race kit, or the huge selection of training gear, I have total confidence that I am wearing the best apparel on the market.

But this is only part of the story. As a TYR athlete I feel like I am truly part of a close-knit, supportive family. The company’s staff is energetic, committed and passionate; the service and support I (and my family and friends) receive is unwavering and unrivalled and they actively seek the athletes’ opinions on product development to ensure that we can all stay a step ahead of the game.

I am extremely excited to have signed an extension to my existing agreement with TYR. Our world record-breaking partnership will continue throughout my competitive career and also after my retirement. I will fly the TYR flag with pride and passion and, of course, a huge smile and make sure we stay always in front!”

The TYR design team will collaborate with Chrissie on the creation of limited edition race gear, a signature wetsuit, and lifestyle apparel products. The partnership will also focus on generating awareness around the key charities and foundations that Chrissie already supports. Additional news will follow as products are released into the market in 2011-12. “Chrissie is a phenomenon. She embodies the core attributes of the TYR brand and is the ultimate competitor,” stated TYR Triathlon Sales and Promotions Director Ryan Dolan. “We are honored to support her as she continues to make her mark in the history of triathlon.”

Huntington Beach, Calif. – January 29, 2010 – TYR continues to expand its elite roster of world-class athletes with the signing of triathlon “King of Swim” John Flanagan. The Hawaii native competed in the company’s Sayonara swimskin when leading out of the water at the 2009 Ironman World Championships. He will continue to race in TYR’s line of swimskins, apparel, and accessories, as well as the newest addition to the Triathlon line, the Hurricane wetsuit.

“All of us at TYR are thrilled to have John Flanagan as one of our flagship athletes,” said TYR Triathlon Sales and Promotions Director Ryan Dolan. “John has been a long time member of the TYR family. He coaches TYR teams and has represented the company in national and international open water swimming events. We look forward to him racing in our new premier wetsuit, the Hurricane.”

Flanagan proved his swimming strength at many national and international triathlon races in the past year. In addition to his 47:42 split at the world championships during the 2.4-mile swim leg, he set the swim course record at the 2009 Ironman Louisville race, averaging roughly 1:10 per 100 meters to clock in at 44:45. His success is rooted in over a decade of competitive swimming including a 2001 national title, an NCAA team title for Auburn University’s Men’s Swimming and Diving team, and four years as a Team USA swim member.

“I use TYR products everyday for either training or racing,” said Flanagan. “The Sayonara swimskin is the fastest suit I have ever swam in and helps me get out to a good start in my races. I also look forward to competing in cold water races this year so I can use the new Hurricane wetsuit!”

Flanagan joins the world’s greatest triathletes on Team TYR including Chrissie Wellington, Andy Potts, Sarah Haskins, and Julie Dibens.

“TYR is committed to the success of it’s athletes, and I want to continue to be a part of it,” Flanagan concluded.

TYR products are distributed through sporting good retailers, swim and triathlon specialty stories, swim team dealers, and online at www.TYR.com.

UK-native Wellington received the 22nd annual Sunday Times “Sportswoman of the Year “award after four weeks of online public voting, where she was up against five other outstanding woman in a multitude of sport disciplines.

“It is huge, great honor to stand up here and represent sportswomen,” Wellington shared. “In terms of triathlon particularly, it is slowly getting the recognition it deserves. It is really being put on the map and so many more people are taking it up.”

A force in the triathlon world, Wellington has continued to bring attention to the sport with her ongoing list of achievements. Undefeated in the Ironman distance, she most recently claimed her third consecutive Ironman World Championship title in Kona, Hawaii with a record-breaking time of 8:54:02

“We at TYR are so proud of Chrissie for being named the ‘Times Sportswoman of the Year’,” said TYR’s National Sales Director Ryan Dolan. “She is a true champion on the race course and off-I cannot think of anybody as deserving as Chrissie for this award.”

With her season at an end, Wellington will look to spend time focusing on charities she has supported through her career, including GOTRIbal, an organization aimed at empowering women and promoting triathlon around the world. Read more about the group by clicking here and continue to follow Wellington’s achievements on TYR.com.

With the heat and humidity beating down on the field Sunday, August 23, 2009 in Gilford, NH, TYR-sponsored Andy Potts and Chrissie Wellington retained their championship titles at Ironman 70.3 Timberman, while rising star Magali Tisseyre finished in a strong third.

The race was off after a delayed start with the professional field breaking the calm of Lake Winnipesaukee’s fresh water. Potts was first out of the 1.2 mile swim course wearing the Tracer Sayonara, and mounting his bike held a slight lead over John Kenny.

“I pushed hard from the start on the swim I wanted to create an early separation and I was able to do that,” said Potts. “I swam in the Sayonara and was really happy with it. The suit is more about swimming than it is about how high you sit in the water.”

On the women’s side of the swim, Dede Griesbauer came out on top of field in the as expected, with Wellington and Tisseyre close behind.

The 56-mile scenic bike route entailed challenging hills along the loop, proving to be advantageous for strong cyclists to regain lost ground. So was the case for Bjorn Andersson who passed Potts and held a lead going into the run.

For Wellington, the bike portion proved her dominance over the field- splitting 2:19:59 to pass Griesbauer. Her time not only bested the second women on the course by five minutes, but fell amongst the top 10 men’s bike splits. Tisseyre positioned herself third entering the run, with Catriona Morrison just ahead.

“I hopped onto the bike feeling good,” said Wellington on her impressive bike. “The women’s pro field was really strong and I knew I had to post a really fast bike split to hold off the charge of some of the faster runners. I really attacked the bike, rode the hills as hard as I could and made sure I kept my concentration throughout.”

Entering the final leg of the race with the sun showing no mercy on the competitors, Potts regained his lead and never looked back. Despite not leading on the bike leg, his split still lowered his last year’s performance by three minutes, and with that he lowered his course record and finished in 3:51:19.

“Once I got on the run, there was a pace clock on me and I knew right away I had a chance to go right t or under last year’s time,” said Potts on breaking the course record. “It was a great performance and I am very happy.”

Wellington used the scenic 13.1 mile run to maintain her lead, splitting 1:24:37. With the split, she charged into the finish and was crowned a champion yet at the course in 4:15:11. Morrison finished second (4:17:07), and Tisseyre was able to finish strong at 4:23:24 to round out the podium.

Using the race as another step towards her big race at the Ironman World Championships in six weeks, Wellington feels excitement to defend yet another title at the race in Hawaii.

“I look at the good and the bad and will take a lot of confidence and lessons into Kona, she said. “I cannot wait to get to the big island and defend my title there. It won’t be easy but I really look forward to the challenge.”

Continuing through the heavy schedule of triathlons this summer, TYR-sponsored triathletes are dominating at all course lengths, continuing to establish a name for themselves on the international field. This past Saturday, July 11th, and Sunday, July 12th, proved to be no exception as Chrissie Wellington broke the women’s Ironman-distance world record, Andy Potts and Becky Lavelle placed in the top three at the Life Time Fitness race in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Desiree Flicker finished second at the Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island Ironman.

The weekend kicked off with Pott’s performance on Saturday when he placed second at the LifeTime Fitness Ironman. Coming out strong from the swim portion of the race in a Tracer Sayonara suit, Potts battled back from his sixth place position after the bike portion to have the fastest run split of the entire field (31:25.1) and cross the finish line second in a final time of 1:49:15.5.

Consistency throughout the entire race proved to be instrumental to Lavelle’s third place finish at the race. She was third out of the water with a split of 19:28.7, as well as third on the bike (1:02.29.6). With the fastest T2 split in the pro female category, she persevered through the run to finish at 2:02:39.3. She was out-raced by Sarah Haskins and Julie Bibens.

Undefeated Ironman competitor Wellington was the talk of the triathlon world Sunday, July 12th when she demolished the women’s Ironman-distance world record by over 13 minutes.

Using the momentum from her record-breaking performance at the Kansas 70.3 Ironman, Wellington was not able to be touched during the 112 mile bike distance, where she split an astounding 4:40:28 hours. Never letting go of her lead, she would run through the finish line at 8:31.59 hours.
