TYR triathletes Andy Potts and Magali Tisseyre celebrated wins on Sunday, June 27th. Potts’ finish at Ironman Coeur d’Alene marked the first full Ironman-distance win for the 70.3 World Champion. Tisseyre’s performance at Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs was her second 70.3 win of the 2010 season.

Coeur d’Alene started off for TYR’s John Flanagan and Potts with a 1-2 exit out of the water. Both racing in the TYR Hurricane Category 5 wetsuit, Flanagan split 45:58 and Potts followed close behind in 46:28. The next competitor was another six minutes back. Potts made up the deficit quickly on the bike and held on to his lead headed into T2. With an impressive 2:42:48 marathon split, he crossed the finish line in 8:24:40.

Tisseyre relied on the same back-end speed she used to win Mooseman 70.3 on June 6th to finish first in 4:23:21. Fifth out of the water in TYR’s Sayonara swimskin and second off the bike, her 1:27:38 half marathon split positioned her at the front to hit the finish line first with a one minute, 36-second margin of victory.

Huntington Beach, Calif. – May 17, 2010 – TYR triathlete John Flanagan was victorious at the 7th annual Honolulu Triathlon on Sunday, May 16th. The USA Triathlon-sanctioned event featured a 1500m swim, 40km bike, and a 10km run for the 1190 athletes at the stating line. Flanagan, who is regarded the fastest swimmer in the sport, took the win in 1:54:55.

May 16th was shared with the start of the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Florida, where TYR athletes TJ Tollakson, Amanda Stevens, and Magali Tisseyre each toed the starting line with 2,200 other athletes on the grounds of the Walt Disney World.

Tollakson impressed the field with a blazing 1:59:57 bike split on the 56-mile leg to take a seven minute lead headed into T2. The surge ahead of the pack proved to be too much as he missed a podium finish, taking 7th.

U.S. National Champion Stevens stayed consistent throughout the entire 70.3 race. Second out of the water in 25:11, she maintained the position to finish second overall in 4:18:55. Tisseyre had a late surge on the run to finish third in 4:23:10.

Huntington Beach, Calif. – January 29, 2010 – TYR continues to expand its elite roster of world-class athletes with the signing of triathlon “King of Swim” John Flanagan. The Hawaii native competed in the company’s Sayonara swimskin when leading out of the water at the 2009 Ironman World Championships. He will continue to race in TYR’s line of swimskins, apparel, and accessories, as well as the newest addition to the Triathlon line, the Hurricane wetsuit.

“All of us at TYR are thrilled to have John Flanagan as one of our flagship athletes,” said TYR Triathlon Sales and Promotions Director Ryan Dolan. “John has been a long time member of the TYR family. He coaches TYR teams and has represented the company in national and international open water swimming events. We look forward to him racing in our new premier wetsuit, the Hurricane.”

Flanagan proved his swimming strength at many national and international triathlon races in the past year. In addition to his 47:42 split at the world championships during the 2.4-mile swim leg, he set the swim course record at the 2009 Ironman Louisville race, averaging roughly 1:10 per 100 meters to clock in at 44:45. His success is rooted in over a decade of competitive swimming including a 2001 national title, an NCAA team title for Auburn University’s Men’s Swimming and Diving team, and four years as a Team USA swim member.

“I use TYR products everyday for either training or racing,” said Flanagan. “The Sayonara swimskin is the fastest suit I have ever swam in and helps me get out to a good start in my races. I also look forward to competing in cold water races this year so I can use the new Hurricane wetsuit!”

Flanagan joins the world’s greatest triathletes on Team TYR including Chrissie Wellington, Andy Potts, Sarah Haskins, and Julie Dibens.

“TYR is committed to the success of it’s athletes, and I want to continue to be a part of it,” Flanagan concluded.

TYR products are distributed through sporting good retailers, swim and triathlon specialty stories, swim team dealers, and online at www.TYR.com.
