TYR’s Haskins Wins St. Anthony’s Triathlon

TYR athlete Sarah Haskins won big at the 2010 St. Anthony’s Triathlon Sunday, April 25th in St Petersburg, Florida. The Olympian championed over a deep field on the bike and run legs to take the title in a time of 1:58:49. Haskins raced in TYR’s Sayonara Swimskin and Fusion 2.

Haskin’s next race is scheduled for May 9th, at the second stop on the World Championship Series in Seoul, South Korea.

TYR’s Weir, Thoman, Celebrate Victories in New Tracer Technology

Columbia, Mo. –February 14, 2010- TYR athletes Amanda Weir and Nick Thoman were both victorious on Satuday, February 13^th at USA Swimming’s Missouri Grand Prix meet. Wearing TYR’s new Tracer high-performance technological suits, both U.S. national team members bettered their morning performances to enjoy their first wins of the meet.

Weir won the 50m freestyle after winning the event at the 2009 Missouri Grand Prix with a quick 25.64. After the victory, she shared her thoughts on both the performance and her first race in the Tracer C-Series shortjohn.

“I was happy with the win and also happy that my stroke felt nice and long,” Weir said. “The C-Series was great-I loved the new straps that provided added range of motion. Also, the compression panels in the core made my body position feel higher in the water.”

Thoman, also racing in the Tracer C-Series, entered the finals of the 100m backstroke against a talented field that included three U.S. national team members and one Olympian. A leading first fifty (26.54) gave him the needed distance to keep his edge and touch first in 54.40. He was ahead of second by .41.

The final evening of competition at the 2010 Missouri Grand Prix finishes Sunday, February 14^th with Thoman racing in the 200m backstroke, Weir in the women’s 100m freestyle, and TYR’s William Copeland in the finals of the men’s 100m freestyle. Be sure to visit TYR.com for final results.

TYR’s Kukors Shatters Meet Record, Grevers Wins High-Point at Southern California Grand Prix

Long Beach, Calif.- January 18, 2010- On the fourth and final night of the 2010 Southern California Grand Prix, TYR’s Matt Grevers raced in the Tracer Light Jammer and took his fifth gold medal of the meet in the 100y backstroke to claim the High-Point award. Aside from the overall meet highlight, it was TYR’s Ariana Kukors who took her first gold of the long weekend in the 200y Individual Medley Monday evening, shattering the previous meet record in the process.

Grevers, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the 100m backstroke, started in lane four for the last race of his meet line-up- the 100y backstroke. Registering a time of 47.42 in the morning’s preliminaries, he turned up the momentum at night to lead the heat and touch in 45.97. With the win, Grevers scored a total of 26 points in the USA Swimming Grand Prix series.

The world record holder in the 200m Individual Medley, Kukors found herself in a tight race at the start of the finals of the 200y Individual Medley. Fresh off a third place finish in the 100y breaststroke (1:02.25), the finals of the race featured three Olympians.

A close race the entire length, Kukors, wearing the Tracer Light Shortjohn, turned second at the 150y and turned on the speed to split 27.1 on the freestyle leg and take the win. Touching at 1:55.05, she lowered the previous meet record by nearly two seconds.

With the conclusion of the meet, Grevers remains tied for second for overall points in the Grand Prix Series. The next series stop begins February 12th in Columbia, Mo. at the 2010 Missouri Grand Prix.
