Jamie Whitmore Reigns as 2007 USA National Champion
Xterra World Champion Jamie Whitmore is considered Xterra’s most accomplished of all time. She has just added her fifth U.S. National title to her name at the 2007 USA Xterra National Championship.
The 2007 Championship kicked off with a chilly Lake Tahoe 1500m water swim. Jamie fought to keep her body temperature up as she past by competitors. On the 32k mountain bike trail, she battled it out with other top females as she rode with the snow on the ground.
By the run, Jamie gained even more strength in her legs and took control of the race. Jamie finished the 10k run portion with race best of 40:56. She clocked in at 2:59:18. That is the first time in the seven-year history of the race that a female has broken the three-hour mark.
“This race has always had a special place with me. I think everybody has that one course where they excel,” Jamie reacts after her performance.
Jamie will challenge the world’s best Xterra athletes at the 2007 World Championship on October 28th in Maui, Hawaii.
