Five US National Titles in Tracer Light
Our TYR swimmers found great success at the USA Short Course National Championship. Our athletes sported the new 2008 Olympic swimsuit technology, Tracer Light.
Congratulations to Mary DeScenza as she is recognized as the 2007 National Championship Kiphuth High Point Award Winner. She secured a top podium finish in the 500yard Freestyle, Silver in the 200yard Backstroke, Bronze in the 200yard Butterfly and three more top five finishes.
Erik Vendt’s standout performance won him 1650yard Freestyle with a fast time of 14:34.85. He came just eight seconds away from breaking the American Record in the mile event. Robert Margalis followed his teammate with a Silver finish in 14:49.86. Four of the top six finishers were outfitted in our Tracer Light in this race.
Eric Shanteau excelled with Gold in the 200y Breaststroke. He touched the wall at 1:54.94. Eric also captured a Silver (400yard IM), Bronze (200yard IM) and fourth place (100yard Breaststroke).
Peter Marshall secured the 2007 US National title in the 100yard Backstroke in 45.09. TYR swimmers filled four of the top five podium spots in this race. Matt Grevers captured the 100yard Butterfly after improving his preliminary time from 46.69 to 45.80.
TYR medal count: 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 10 Bronze.
