Gasket doesn't seal

Jun 18, 2015 | Posted by Dan | Gender: Male Sport Interest: Triathlon Age: 45-54

Loved my older versions of the Hydo-mask and my old one started to leak. It was over a year old, so I assumed the gasket seal broke. Ordered a brand new one and it leaks from the get go. Sure I can put Vaseline around the gasket and it'll seal, but I shouldn't have to.

Work great

Oct 24, 2013 | Posted by David | Gender: Male Sport Interest: Swimming Age: 45-54

I swim Masters 4-5 times/week. I've had these for years, and they are great, just had to replace the strap once. For some reason, normal goggles leak for me no matter what I do. I tried many different types. So these masks for some reason work for me, maybe shape of my face or nose. I've also used aquashere mask, and it is OK, but not as comfortable as Tyr. I have the dark also. I dive in every workout, and they don't leak for me. A drop of baby shampoo and no fog either.

WORST of the hydrovision models - for me at least

Sep 2, 2013 | Posted by Terry | Height:

NO stars isn't an option - but that's how I'd rate this mask, based on my experience with several of them.

For indoor and cloudy outdoor continuous 2000-yd or 2000m workouts, I prefer clear lenses. I've tried 4 of the clear tyr hydrovision masks (I'm on my 5th one now). All have leaked upon entry in the water or within the first 100 yds. quickly filling up and becoming useless. Adjustments to strap tightness or placement, face position, etc. are no help. As noted in a separate review, the metallized model is a fine mask: wide field of view, comfortable, leak-free, reasonable cost (but it has weak anti-fog and scratch-resistant coatings).

This will be my last clear-lens hydrovision mask if it leaks like its predecessors: I'll switch to Aquasphere or some other brand that doesn't leak.

Product Questions & Answers (5)

  • Q: I have two pair of your Hydrovision masks. Both FOG UP and my supplier (Leslie's pools) does not sell your anti fog drops. Can I purchase them from your company or do you have a supplier in the Farmington, CT area. 06032 Leslie's has stores in Newington and Southington and neither have the drops. Do you recommend anything else to prevent fogging?

  • Q: I love your Hydrovision mask, great seal and great field of vision vs goggles. This is very helpful in a crowded lane. But, do you have an Optical -2.5 or -3 corrective version? (In answer the the other question, a tiny drop of baby shampoo spread inside the lenses daily keeps them perfectly clear.)

  • Q: How do I determine if they will fit and not leak on an adult face?

  • Q: Do these provide 100 percent UVA and UVB protection?

  • Q: Are the lens' on this Swim Mask flat or curved?
