Great fit and value
Jul 10, 2015 | Posted by | Gender: Male Sport Interest: Swimming Age: 25-34 Size Purchased: 36
I've struggled to find suits that fit well and are not too tight. I've tried other brands (Speedo, The Finals, etc.) and the sizing guidelines just did not match up for me. After a couple of misses I tried jammers, which didn't quite solve the problem of finding a suit that fit comfortably. What finally worked for me was lycra/nylon racer suits from TYR (I could have even probably gotten away with a size down, which for me would have been a 34) and I agree with the previous reviewer that lycra/nylon is the way to go because it stretches and conforms to your body, which polyester does not do. The two TYR suits I now have were good value for the price (a high-quality racer can be rather expensive) and the print on this one is not too flashy but also not purely one solid color.

Standard Nylon/Lycra suit

I've bought a ton of competitive swimsuits over the years for swim team as well as lap swimming on my own. I bought this suit for two big reasons: I like TYR, and I like Lycra/Nylon. I'll briefly explain each one...
TYR is my go to for swimsuits because they are a reputable company that sells quality swimsuits for much cheaper than Speedo. There is nothing wrong with buying from either of these two major companies, but I like the prices of TYR much better. I also like they're innovative designs (even though this particular suit is rather plain and boring).
I also like these Lycra/Nylon suits because they fit the best, and feel the best. Lycra stretches to and conforms to your body nicely, as compared to polyester "Endurance" or "Durafast" suits. Polyester tends to provide no wiggle room. You just have to force yourself into it, as it does not stretch. Lycra will look small before you put it on, and then stretch around you as you wear it. It stays tight so there are no flabby areas of fabric hanging around causing drag.
For size, buy your normal size, or a size down. I wouldn't buy a size up. I'm a size 32 waist, and I have both a 32 and a 30. Both fit great. The suit has a nice side width, I've measured mine to be around 2.5 inches. It also sits just low enough on your waist. No complaints at all about the fit.
Beware that Lycra/Nylon wears out much faster than polyester. These suits will degrade over time, especially if you don't rinse them after swimming, or if you don't hang them up to dry ASAP. If money is an issue, buy a polyester suit because it will last forever. If you want comfort and can afford to replace these suits every few months (depending on amount of use), buy Lycra suits like this.
