TYR Sport Announces Official Partnership with British Swimming Federation

Commencing January 1, 2017, TYR Sport will begin its role as the official product supplier of all aquatic disciplines within the British Swimming Federation, as well as the home nation governing bodies of the Amateur Swimming Association, Scottish Amateur Swimming Association and Welsh Amateur Swimming Association.

As a truly diverse federation, British Swimming represents the best of the swimming world. From grassroots and Learn to Swim programs to elite level competitions, British Swimming facilitates opportunities for athletes to grow and develop to the best of their abilities. Hailing from Corvallis, Oregon, Jacob has garnered a number of impressive results throughout his career. Prior to his fifth place finish in the 200m backstroke at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jacob won the national title in the 200m back at the 2015 Phillips 66 National Championships. That same year he also won gold in the 200m back and silver in the 400m medley relay at the World University Games. Before embarking on what would become a stellar collegiate career at the University of California Berkeley, Jacob was a three-time gold medallist at the 2011 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships.

Jacob looks to continue his international success this week at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Windsor, Canada, before returning to Cal to prepare for the future.

With major performances for the University of Tennessee under her belt, Hannis has undoubtedly been one to watch. Highlighting her time as a Lady Vol with two NCAA titles, she helped the University of Tennessee to win both the 200y and 400y medley relays at the 2013 NCAA Championships.

In 2014 she was at it again, winning the 100y breast title and taking second in the 200y breast at AT&T Winter Nationals. Recently, she placed second in the 200m breast at 2015 Phillips 66 Nationals and helped her team win the national title in the 400m medley relay in the 100m breaststroke. Hannis also represented the U.S.A. at the World University Games and on the FINA World Cup circuit where she earned three World Cup victories.

Setting her sights on the world stage, this National Team member will compete in her third Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, next week.

No stranger to the podium, Kelsi has taken the sport by storm on both the national and world stage. In 2014, she won the 100y and 200y butterfly at the AT&T Winter National Championships, before continuing on to champion the 100m fly at the Phillips 66 National Championships the following year. As a Louisville Cardinal, Kelsi earned two titles in the 100y and 200y fly events at the 2015 NCAA Championships. Her impressive swim in the 100y fly also set a new American and NCAA Record.

Kelsi earned three medals at the 2015 Pan American Games, including gold for her swim in the 100m fly. Most recently, she further lowered her own American and NCAA Records in the 100y fly at the 2016 NCAA Championships on her way to yet another collegiate title. This summer Kelsi hopes to take her success to new heights at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, where she will be vying for a chance to represent her country at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Making waves at Indiana University, Lindsay became a Big Ten record holder and 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee during her time as a Hoosier. Placing second in the 1650y free at the 2013 AT&T Winter Nationals, she then went on to earn major podium finishes at races like the 2014 FINA Short Course World Championships, where she earned bronze for her swim in the 800m free relay.

Turning heads at the 2015 World University Games, Lindsay won one gold and two silver medals for her swims in the 800m, 1500m and 400m free. That year she also championed both the 400m and 800m in the same stroke at the Phillips 66 Nationals.

A National Team Member since 2013, Lindsay now has her sights set on the world’s stage. This summer she plans to attend her second Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.

Hailing from the University of Minnesota, Spencer made waves as a Golden Gopher. Becoming the first woman in the Big Ten Conference to break the 2:06 barrier in the 200yd breaststroke, Haley earned four Big Ten Championship titles throughout her college career. The breaststroke specialist brought home a win at the 2011 NCAA Championships in the 200yd breast and stayed on the podium with second-place finishes in the same event the following two years. Spencer has also found success in the long course format of the event, finishing second in the 200m breast at the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships.

Today Haley has her sights set on gold, as she plans to attend her third Olympic Trials this June in Omaha, Nebraska.

Team TYR Athlete Ashley Twichell Dominates Open Water Festival10k to Win National Title

A.Twichell_PressRelease (1)Seal Beach, CA — April 11, 2016 —This past week team TYR athlete and 2x Open Water World Championship Medalist Ashley Twichell turned heads in her Avictor at the Open Water Festival 10k race in Miromar Lakes, FL.

Racing alongside some of the world’s highest ranked open water swimmers, Ashley edged out ahead with an impressive time of 2:01:51.78 to win the national championship title. Charging past the second place finisher in the last 10 meters of the race, she was determined to bring home a win. Touching just before the rest of the stacked international pack, Ashley proved that nothing will stop her from making it to the top. With this recent win under her belt, she continues to build confidence and momentum heading into pool Olympic trials.

“I’ve been focusing more on the pool this season, so to come in and win against an international star-studded field was really exciting,” began Twichell. “The six women placing 2nd-7th behind me will all be competing in the 10K in Rio, all with a high likelihood of being medalists. I took a bit of a risk by leading for the majority of the race, but was still able to find another gear that last 300 meters. I had speed at the end of the race that I’ve never really had before, which gives me a lot of confidence going into pool Olympic Trials.”
