Seal Beach, CA — April 27, 2016 —TYR Sport, the leading manufacturer of competitive swim and triathlon gear, is proud to welcome NCAA Champion Haley Spencer to its roster of sponsored athletes.
Hailing from the University of Minnesota, Spencer made waves as a Golden Gopher. Becoming the first woman in the Big Ten Conference to break the 2:06 barrier in the 200yd breaststroke, Haley earned four Big Ten Championship titles throughout her college career. The breaststroke specialist brought home a win at the 2011 NCAA Championships in the 200yd breast and stayed on the podium with second-place finishes in the same event the following two years. Spencer has also found success in the long course format of the event, finishing second in the 200m breast at the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships.
Today Haley has her sights set on gold, as she plans to attend her third Olympic Trials this June in Omaha, Nebraska.
“I am so excited to be a part of Team TYR,” began Spencer. “I've been racing in the Avictor for quite some time now, and I love how fast I feel in the suit. Joining TYR has definitely given me an extra boost of confidence as I head into Olympic Trials.”
Matt DiLorenzo, Chief Executive Officer of TYR Sport added, “Team TYR is truly thrilled to sponsor and support Haley Spencer. We believe in her talent, and we cannot wait to see how she grows throughout her career.”
