TYR Sport Signs 2x Olympic Medalist Lia Neal

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Lia garnered worldwide attention in 2012 when she earned a bronze medal for her swim in the 100-meter freestyle relay at the Summer Olympic Games in London. Still a high school student, Neal became the first swimmer from Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Swim Team, where she had been swimming since the age of eight, to both make and medal in the Olympic Games. However, Neal was only just beginning to set herself apart. As a member of Stanford University Women's Swimming & Diving, Lia earned a national championship title every year since 2014. She finished her collegiate career as a nine-time National Champion, winning three of those titles this year. In 2016 Lia qualified for her second Summer Games, this time in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a member of the women’s 400-meter freestyle relay Neal earned her first Olympic silver medal. Since Rio she has continued to increase her international presence with major swims including a gold medal performance in the 400-meter freestyle relay at the 2017 FINA World Championships. She is currently a 6x World Championship medalist. Bursting onto the world’s stage as a student athlete, Shields earned a gold medal and two silver medals at the 2011 World University Games. These podium finishes turned out to be the first of many international medals to come for the then Cal swimmer. Concluding his collegiate career at the 2013 NCAA Championships, Shields placed first in the 200 fly with a tie for the fastest short course yards time in history. He also finished first in the 100 fly and second in the 100 back. That same year Tom broke the American Record in the short course 200-meter butterfly at the Eindhoven World Cup. In 2016, Shields placed second in both the 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly events at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. After punching his ticket to Rio de Janeiro, he then went on to earn his first Olympic gold medal for his participation in the 4x100-meter medley relay. TYR Sport Signs 4x Short Course World Championship Medalist Michael Chadwick

With major performances for the University of Missouri under his belt, Chadwick has proven to the swimming world he certainly is one to watch. Accumulating a total of 22 All-American honors with 11 first-team and 11 honorable mentions, Michael is currently the most decorated athlete in the history of the Missouri swimming program. At the culmination of his collegiate career, he owned team records in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM, and is ranked third all-time in the 100 yard breaststroke. Chadwick has shown consistent improvement and really began making a name for himself in 2015 after placing fourth in the 50m free at Summer Nationals which earned him a spot on the national team. Later that year as part of the 4x100-meter freestyle relay, he contributed to a new American Record at the 2015 Duel in the Pool. At the 2016 FINA World Short Course Championships, Michael earned one gold, two silvers and a bronze medal in Windsor, Canada as part of four relay teams. Chadwick will remain a key relay player on the U.S. Team at the 2017 FINA World Championships after securing a spot on the 4x100-meter freestyle relay with his 5th place finish in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2017 Summer Nationals. His performances at the meet also earned Chadwick an opportunity to compete in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events at the World University Games held at the end of August. Today, Chadwick joins a growing roster of standout swimmers including 12x Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, 7x Olympic medalist Dana Vollmer and 6x Olympic medalist Matt Grevers. Since the onset of her swimming career Leah Smith has proven to be a dominant force in the pool. During her time competing for the University of Virginia, she won four NCAA titles and became a double World Champion with gold medal performances in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle events at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships. At 2016 Olympic trials, Smith secured two individual swims (400 and 800-meter free), as well as a place on the 4 x 200-meter free relay. Once in Rio de Janeiro, Leah swam a personal best in the 400-meter where she took home bronze for the USA. In addition, she also earned a gold medal for her participation on the women’s relay team. While she has predominantly been known as a freestyle specialist, Smith swam a world-class 4:33.86 in the 400-meter IM at the 2017 Summer National Championships. With that performance Smith ranks second in the world heading into World Championships later this month, where she also qualified to swim the 200, 400, 800 and 1500-meter freestyles, as well as the 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay. Smith earned the High Point Award after her impressive display at the meet and will be the only American athlete (male or female) to swim five individual events at World Championships.
