Huntington Beach, CA – May 7, 2012 – TYR athlete Andy Potts conquered St. Croix, with time to spare, in arguably the worst weather conditions in race history.  The St. Croix Ironman 70.3 was held on Sunday, May 6^th, 2012 in the U.S Virgin Islands.  With roots back to the 1988 America’s Paradise Triathlon, St. Croix is one of the oldest races in the series. For 2012, paradise was lost as athletes had to not only contend with the usual heat, humidity and hills of St. Croix, plenty of rain was present, leaving huge puddles with intermittent rain showers throughout the race for Potts. Known as one of the greatest swimmers in all of triathlon, the former Olympian Potts was first out of the water with a Swim split of 24:29.  Finishing out the race with a Bike split of 2:26:13 and a Run split of 1:12:50, Potts won the race in TYR’s Carbon Race Kit with a final time of 4:03:31.  Potts finished the race by almost a full two minutes ahead of the second place finisher.
