Bolles School Sharks Clinch Junior National Title

With the conclusion of the 2009 Short Course Junior Nationals on Saturday, December 12th in Columbus, Ohio, the TYR-sponsored Bolles School Sharks were awarded the combined team title-scoring 756.50 points to repeat their victory from the previous year. In addition, the club also took the men’s team title-breaking three meet records in the process. The Sharks, lead by head coach Sergio Lopez, showed their depth throughout the entire three-day meet in the relay events. The women’s team secured four relay titles-breaking meet records in the 4x100y medley relay and the 4x100 freestyle relay. On the men’s side, three relays were won by clocking faster times than previously swum at any junior national championship. “The kids stepped up very well,” said Lopez. “I think for us, winning back to back two years was a big accomplishment for us- I am very happy. Now we are going to have to keep pushing it for next year.” The men’s team finished out Saturday evening with a total score of 377.50- 109.50 points ahead of second place. Although falling short 26 points on the women’s side, the team was able to contribute an impressive 405 to the overall for the combined victory-which Bolles took by 325.50. With the conclusion of the meet, Bolles will resume training at their facilities in Jacksonville, Florida.
