On the first night of finals Tuesday evening at the 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships and World Championship Trials, TYR-sponsored coach Bill Rose left the pool proud after watching his swimmer place second in the 400m freestyle, securing a spot on the U.S. World Championship Team. The championships will be held in Rome, Italy, with the swim competition scheduled to start on July 22nd.
With the first day over at the IUPUI pool in Indianapolis, IN, and one huge achievement to boast, the proud Mission Viejo Nadadores coach Rose acknowledged his swimmer’s hard work, as well as the pressure that was lifted at the finish.
“I feel relieved,” said Coach Rose. “I am happy for her. She did a great, great job and followed instructions. It was a classy effort.”
Rose will add this feat to the list of his swimmer’s accomplishments so far this summer, which include a strong performance at the Open Water Festival in Fort Myers Beach, FL. It was there that Rose’s current Nadadores swimmer finished first in the women’s 5K distance, while a former athlete secured a spot on the World Championship Team for the U.S. in the men’s 10K.
Despite tonight’s success, Rose will look to guide more swimmers to strong performances throughout the entire meet.
“We are going to have a great day, every day,” said Rose.
