Dibens Wins First Ironman Title at Coeur d’Alene; Potts Takes First at Philadelphia Triathlon

Huntington Beach, CA – June 27, 2011 – TYR triathlete Julie Dibens had a remarkable race to win her first Ironman title at Coeur d’Alene.  The Great Britain native led from the start, exiting the water in first position (52:36) in her TYR Category Five Hurricane Wetsuit.    With a 3:39 lead heading into the bike, Dibens did not let up at all, setting a blazing new bike course record with a split of 4:52:18.   Dibens headed into the run with a stunning 36:37 advantage with only three male pros ahead of her. Dibens appeared to be a shoe-in for the win but encountered a scary moment at mile 13 when she had to stop and refuel because of dizziness.   The slight setback allowed Dibens’ competitors to regain some ground, but it was not enough to affect the race outcome.  Crossing the finish line at 9:16:40, another course record, Dibens rejoiced in her first Ironman victory. Back on the east coast, TYR triathlete Andy Potts continued his winning streak at the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon. Potts exited the water first, distancing himself from his competitors.  Neck and neck with his competition for most of the bike, Potts was able to put some distance between him and the field in the latter portion of the run to finish in 1:46:03 for the victory.  Potts continues to rack up the wins in TYR’s Carbon Race Kit across various distances, which have included 2010 Ironman Cozumel, 2011 Ironman 70.3 California, the CapTex Triathlon, and the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
