Swimmers Earn Four More National Course Records and Six National Titles in Tracer Technology

The 2008 USA Swimming Nationals concluded with TYR athletes winning six of the ten final individual races. Swimmers wearing Tracer garnered a combined success of 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze. Swimming her lifetime personal best time, Amanda Weir marked the second fastest American time in history in the 100y freestyle with a time of 47.15 – earning her another national title. Tanica Jamison secured the bronze in the 100y freestyle in 49.03. William Copeland impressively took the title in the 100y freestyle. His speed neared the American record, as he set his lifetime personal best time of 41.75. Matt Grevers placed second recording his own fastest time in the event, 41.85. TYR athletes seemed to monopolize the pool winning both the women’s and men’s breaststroke races. In the women’s breaststroke race, 50% of the field trusted Tracer including the gold and silver medalists.  Michael Alexandrov’s winning streak continued as he set a new course record in the 200y breaststroke.  Alexandrov added another national title to his belt with a time of 1:51.96. He won both breaststroke events with lifetime personal best times. Eric Shanteau was awarded the silver medal, recording his lifetime personal best time with an incredible 2.4% improvement over his prior personal best. In the men’s 200y breaststroke, TYR swimmers secured a 1-2 finish. Mary DeScenza scored double meet records in the 200y backstroke and 200y butterfly. Her record breaking performance in the backstroke set her lifetime personal best with a time of 1:51.58. Continuing with top speed, she won the women’s butterfly event by two body lengths as she set a new time standard of 1:52.48. Matt Grevers, Jeff Dash and Adam Ritter helped the Ford Aquatics 4x100y freestyle relay earn a second place finish. Grevers set the fastest split at 40.99. The King Aquatics relay team finished with bronze in the women’s 4x100y freestyle relay. The 2008 National Championships ended on a high note as the King Aquatics women’s team won the overall high point team title.
