Huntington Beach, CA- April 3, 2011 –TYR triathletes Andy Potts and Mirinda Carfrae claimed the 2011 Ironman 70.3 California titles in Oceanside on Saturday. It was the third Ironman 70.3 California title for both Potts and Carfrae, respectively.

Once again dominating the swim portion with a time of 22:36, Potts was first out of the water in TYR’s Category 5 Hurricane Wetsuit. Potts then went on to bike a 2:17:29 for the third fastest bike split of the day. He finished up with 1:12:17 on the run in TYR’s Carbon Race Kit. Potts’ final time was 3:55:49, narrowly edging Rasmus Henning by thirty seconds. On the women’s side, TYR athlete Dede Griesbauer led out of the water with a time of 25:48. Carfrae and Magali Tisseyre were not far behind with swim splits of 26:52 and 26:54, respectively. Four of the first six female pros out of the water wore the Category 5 Hurricane Wetsuit. Tisseyre had the second fastest bike split with a time of 2:32:50 in her Female Carbon Race Kit, with Carfrae trailing in sixth position going into T2. However, Carfrae’s speed on the run was unstoppable, and she was able to pull away from leader Heather Jackson in the final thirty seconds to finish in 4:26:18.
