Huntington Beach, CA – April 3, 2011 – TYR athletes
Andy Potts and Richie Cunningham finished in first and second place respectively at the Ironman 70.3 California. It was Potts’ fourth win in Oceanside. Ironman 70.3 California is a special race for Potts. It was the setting for his first taste competing at a WTC event and introduced him to Ironman and 70.3 racing.
Potts seemed in control all day as he led key Australian challenger and fellow TYR sponsored athlete Cunningham from start to finish. With a race-best swim of 22:48, a bike of 2:13:08 and a run of 1:14:34, Potts took the men’s title with a first place finish in 3:54:03. Potts bested second place finisher Richie Cunningham by 68-seconds. Andy Potts races in
TYR’s Carbon Race Kit. Both Potts and Cunningham swim in the
TYR Hurricane Freak of Nature wetsuit.
