
Huntington Beach, CA – June 6, 2011 – TYR triathlete
Andy Potts continued his winning streak this weekend by capturing his 4
th Escape From Alcatraz victory. Potts had race-best swim and bike splits with times of 22:31 and 46:35, respectively. With a final time of 1:59:45, Potts was able to eclipse the second place male finisher by 34 seconds.
Also claiming a podium finish was TYR athlete
Matt Chrabot, who finished with an impressive 2:00:25. Outfitted in TYR’s
Carbon race kit, Chrabot was neck and neck with 2
nd place finisher Bevan Docherty for much of the bike and run, finishing just six seconds behind Docherty to complete an excellent race. On the women’s side, TYR athlete
Becky Lavelle capped off another successful race with a top three finish and a time of 2:19:21.
Back on the east coast, TYR triathletes
Julie Dibens and
Mirinda Carfrae battled for the Rev3 Quassy title in Middlebury, Connecticut. Dibens was second out of the water, and then took a commanding lead on the bike. Carfrae worked hard to catch her on the run, but in the end it was Dibens who prevailed with a final time of 4:23:37. Carfrae finished strong with a time of 4:26:24 to garner second place.
