Triathlete Magazine, the voice of triathlon worldwide, previewed TYR’s Hurricane Wetsuit series in the “Showcase” section of it’s December 2009 issue, naming the suit as a “Best of Show” for the 2010 season.
Debuting the Hurricane at Interbike in September, TYR got praises from the magazine’s tech guru Brad Culp for the company’s efforts in developing its first line of wetsuits.
“It (TYR) spent more than two years designing the three wetsuits that make up the Hurricane line and we think the company nailed it on its first attempt,” boasted Culp.

The series three suits range from the top-end C5 to the beginner-level C1. With a price tag also ranging from $625-$290, it was the mid-level C3 that caught the attention of Culp and the magazine.
“While the Hurricane top-end C5 was one of the most comfortable suits we’ve ever slipped on, we were more excited about the mid-level C3,” explained Culp. TYR’s middle-of-the-road option uses the same neoprene and coating as most top-tier suits but only carries a $450 price tag.”
The Hurricane series, meticulously created using 25 years of knowledge in the competitive swimsuit business and input from top triathletes in the world, including 70.3 World Champion Andy Potts, will be on the market in February of 2010.
