
With the conclusion of the 2009 Duel in the Pool Saturday, December 19

Matt Grevers,
Mary Mohler,
Amanda Weir, and
Ariana Kukors contributed 50 points to Team USA’s overall score to beat the E-Stars 185 to 78.
On the second and final day of the Duel in the Pool competition, Grevers continued to dominate over the European squad, winning a second individual title in the 100m short course backstroke race, clocking in at 49.32.
The highlight for Grevers and Team USA came in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, when the squad rewrote France’s short course world record in a time of 3:03.30 to take gold. His split of 44.68 was the team.
Weir and the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay were also victorious, finishing ahead of the American Record time standard of 3:43.96 with a quick 2:28.89.
Other highlights at the Duel included Mohler’s first place finish in the women’s 200m butterfly. Splitting 1:00.12 at the hundred to lead the event, she held on to touch at 2:04.78.
With the win, Team USA is now 4-0 in Duel in the Pool competitions. Pitted against the Australian team in the previous three installments, this the first victory over the E-Stars.
