Huntington Beach, Calif. – December 21, 2012 – TYR Sport, Inc. is pleased to announce a renewed agreement as the official sponsor of the Danish Swimming Federation for swimming through the year 2016. TYR has held a successful partnership with the Danish Swimming Federation since 2009.
Denmark boasted the fourth highest overall medal count (ten medals) of the twenty-five participating countries at the recent 2012 FINA World Short Course Championships in Instanbul, Turkey. This included three Gold medals, two Silver medals, and five Bronze medals. The highlight of the event undoubtedly was when the Danish women captured Gold in the 400m medley relay.
The Danish Swimming Federation has seen steady success over the last two years at the 2011 World Championships, 2012 Olympics Games, and the recent 2012 European Short Course Championships. Most notably, Danish TYR athlete Jeanette Ottesen Gray became World Champion in 2011 in the Women’s 100m Freestyle.
“"We are thrilled that the Danish Federation and TYR Sport have decided to renew their partnership. It is an important recognition of the quality of TYR's product and the work that we started 4 years ago. The success of the partnership was highlighted by the 6 titles recently won by the Danish National Team at the European Championships in Chartres. We relish the opportunity to supply our technical apparel to such a large group of fantastic swimmers and look forward to another 4 years of successes," stated Franck Horter, TYR’s European General Manager.
Other major accomplishments by the Danish Federation include Ottesen Gray winning the 2011 European Short Course Championship in the 100m butterfly. At the same competition, the Danish women captured the 4x50m medley relay gold. In 2012, Ottesen Gray won the 50m butterfly at the European Short Course Championship and was apart of the winning 4x50m Danish freestyle relay team.
“The Danish Swimming Federation is very pleased that the partnership with TYR will continue until 2016. We have been very satisfied with our relationship with TYR since 2009, and are happy to continue our partnership in the years to come,” stated Pia Holmen, Director of the Danish Swimming Federation.
Always striving to expand its presence in the European market, TYR is proud to sponsor several marquee European athletes: Olympic Gold Medalist Florent Manaudou (FRA), 2011 World Champions Camille Lacourt (FRA), and Olympic Silver Medalist in triathlon Lisa Norden (SWE).
