Wellington and Potts Defend Titles at Timberman 70.3, Tisseyre Wins Ironman 70.3 Phillippines

Huntington Beach, Calif. – August 22, 2010 – For the third year in a row, TYR triathletes Chrissie Wellington and Andy Potts captured first place at the Ironman 70.3 Timberman in New Hampshire.   Both Potts and Wellington dominated from start to finish, finishing in 3:50:51 and 4:10:11, respectively. Chrissie Wellington is the 3x Ironman World Champion and is coming off a record-setting race at Challenge Roth with a time of 8:19:13.  Wearing the Category 5 Female Hurricane Wetsuit, Wellington continued her success against the clock with times of 25:40 on the swim, 2:22:14 on the bike, and 1:19:16 on the run.  The first three female triathletes, (Wellington, Dede Griesbauer, and Ayesha Rollinson) out of the water all wore TYR’s Hurricane Wetsuit Series. Andy Potts is the reigning Coeur d’Alene Ironman Champion, and more recently took a victory at the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Boulder.  Potts wore the Category 5 Male Hurricane Wetsuit, as he blasted through the swim with a time of 22:43.  With a huge lead out of T1, Potts didn’t let up at all on the bike or run, pacing the field with times of 2:09:27, and 1:16:08, respectively.   TYR triathlete T.J. Tollakson was third out of the water with a time of 24:57, and finished 9th overall with a time of 4:06:50. Halfway around the world, TYR triathlete Magali Tisseyre clinched the top spot at Ironman 70.3 Phillippines.  With a time of 4:27:01, Tisseyre was able to overtake Michellie Jones early in the run leg of the race to add another victory to her already impressive resume.
