Wellington Wins Fourth Consecutive Ironman 70.3 Timberman; Lavelle Tops San Francisco Triathlon

Huntington Beach, CA – August 22, 2011 – TYR athlete Chrissie Wellington won her fourth consecutive Ironman 70.3 Timberman with a blistering time of 4:16:33.  Proving once again that she can compete amongst the top male athletes in the sport, Wellington’s run split of 1:18:44 was nearly a minute and a half faster than all other male and female pro competitors. Outfitted in TYR’s C5 Hurricane Wetsuit, the 3x Ironman World Champion lead the women from the start, exiting the water with at time of 27:08.  Wellington’s bike split was equally impressive, cruising to a 2:27:51 time in TYR’s Carbon Race Kit. Wellington’s speed on the run led her to victory, crushing all other female competitors by over ten minutes with only five men finishing ahead of her.  This is Wellington’s third straight victory this year, having won Ironman 70.3 Kansas and Ironman South Africa earlier this season. On the west coast, TYR’s Becky Lavelle topped the podium at the 2011 San Francisco Triathlon with a total time of 2:29:14.  Lavelle recorded the second best cycling split of the day with a 1:13:42.  With a 69-second lead going into the run, Lavelle posted the fourth best run time of the day with a 51:01.  Lavelle races in TYR’s Competitor Race Kit.
